SALINAS, Calif. — October 28, 2026. Salinas residents who experience neighborhood parking congestion have a scheduled opportunity to ask questions about the city’s Preferential Parking Program tonight, Wednesday, October 28.
A community notice published by Monterey County Weekly lists the meeting for 6–8 p.m. in the multipurpose room of Alisal High School, 777 Williams Road, Salinas. The session is being presented by City Councilmember Jose Luis Barajas and the City’s Public Works Department, according to the announcement. The notice lists admission as free.
What is residential preferential parking?
Salinas has existing code provisions for districts that restrict certain on-street parking to permit holders during designated hours. A permit is not a guarantee of an available parking space, and existing traffic and parking rules continue to apply. The city must follow its applicable legal and administrative procedures for any district changes.
Residents may want to ask which blocks are under consideration, how a neighborhood can request parking controls, what evidence the city reviews, and how residents, guests, businesses and persons with disabilities would be affected. These are questions for officials, not assertions that changes have already been adopted.
Confirm before traveling
For up-to-date logistics, contact Salinas Public Works through the city’s official website or its published parking and citations resource page. The event was listed at 777 Williams Road; check directly for any last-minute room changes.
