SALINAS, Monterey County — October 29, 2026. Monterey County supervisors passed an amendment to the agreement governing the Salinas Housing Advancement, Resources & Education (SHARE) Center on October 27. The action updates how the county and City of Salinas share administrative and financial responsibilities for the facility and oversight of its operator.
Where the money comes from
Under county file A 26-451, the Board authorized a fiscal-year 2026–27 budget adjustment of $1.65 million in planned operating expenditures, supported by an equal amount of estimated intergovernmental revenue. The amount represents the city’s projected 50% share of operating costs. It should not be described as new funding for construction or as money already disbursed in full.
What the agreement changes
The amendment covers division of responsibility for the SHARE Center’s administration, fiscal management and selection and management of the operating organization. That is a separate governmental action from proposed capital improvements or housing-unit expansion at the site.
The board’s authority for future amendments is limited by specified conditions, including an overall agreement term that may not exceed 15 years. No new household eligibility rules, staffing numbers or completed shelter construction should be inferred from this approval alone.
