SALINAS, California — October 27, 2026. Monterey County supervisors have been asked to approve a five-year memorandum of understanding with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan addressing the coordination of care for eligible children and young adults in California Children’s Services (CCS).
Agenda item A 26-429 proposes a term of January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2031. It covers care coordination, administrative activities and information exchange for CCS-eligible individuals. The official proposal specifies no exchange of funds under the agreement.
What California Children’s Services does
CCS is a California program for eligible people younger than 21 who have certain medical conditions requiring specialized services. The memorandum is intended to clarify responsibilities between the local health agency and a health plan; it is not an automatic enrollment announcement for every child or evidence that eligibility requirements have changed.
What families should check
Families managing ongoing specialist care should confirm their plan’s coverage, referrals and transition instructions directly with the health plan and Monterey County CCS program. A proposed MOU does not by itself establish that any particular appointment or treatment has been approved.
The October 27 agenda requests approval; final board action was not independently confirmed because the meeting’s minutes were still pending when checked.
